Pioneering the future of marine robotics
Our innovative ZIMA prototype is under development, with mechanical design near completion, active UV-C testing, and a successful virtual simulation of ZIMA navigating ship hull environments to rigorously train and optimize autonomous operations. By the end of 2025, we aim to complete a full-scale prototype to validate ZIMA’s real-world efficacy.
At least 55,000 tonnes of microplastics are released from ship and yacht coatings each year. Proactive cleaning eliminates the need for toxic antifouling paint. With ZIMA we hope to significantly reduce this pollution by replacing the method of traditional hull cleaning.
Biofouling on hulls causes increased fuel usage which accounts for 1% of current global emissions. With frequent hull-cleaning, this can be prevented from day 1. With ZIMA, we aim to tackle this issue head-on by implementing a proactive cleaning solution that minimizes biofouling and reduces fuel consumption.
Nearly 80% of invasive marine species transfer is caused by biofouling hulls. By keeping hulls perpetually clean, we're protecting the ocean. ZIMA will aid in the prevention of invasive species, safeguarding marine ecosystems and the global economy.
